Optometrist
Dr. Matt Sisson is passionate about providing personal, quality patient care. He truly enjoys building relationships with each one of his patients, and taking time to educate them about their eye care. He works to build collaborative partnerships with patients, families and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive treatment and support. As a primary care Optometrist, he manages many types of eye diseases, conditions and functional vision concerns for patients across the lifespan.
Dr. Sisson was born and raised in eastern Virginia, and graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. After spending the next four years in San Diego working in the accounting field, he returned to Virginia in 2006, where he discovered his passion for eye care during a routine visit with his Optometrist.
Dr. Sisson’s love for the western United States and aspirations for a career change brought him to Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon, where he received his Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree with honors in 2014, and was a four-year member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. He completed internships with the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Reno, Hickam Air Force Base Eye Clinic in Hawaii, as well as surgical/medical clinics in central Oregon.
Upon graduation, Dr. Sisson practiced in Reno with Dr. Al Dufur, before moving to Bend, OR, where he worked in a family eye care practice specializing in Vision Therapy. However, his love for Reno and the beautiful Sierras brought him back ‘home’ to northern Nevada once again.
In his spare time, Dr. Sisson enjoys traveling, trail running and backpacking with his wife and 2 dogs. He also loves playing and listening to music, as well as snowboarding, mountain biking, fly fishing, golf and finding any other excuse to stay active and outside.
